Richelle Tang - Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) - 2023 1

I initially hated POA because i could not understand what my teachers taught neither did i have anyone to help me. Hence after failing badly in weighted assessment in secondary 3, i decided to pick up tuition. Doing POA in the past seemed impossible but i quickly scored my first A1 after S3 EOY, and have remained as a constant A1 student ever since. Thanks to the help of Mr Ling, it has been so much easier to understand POA with his methods and explanations. His homework also equips me better and i can easily attempt any question. I am no longer afraid but confident in the subject. Thank you Mr Ling.

Feedback from Richelle’s Dad:

Very fast improvement, worth to put her here. Thank you teacher.

Callum Yeo – Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Rd) – 2023

Callum Yeo - Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Rd) - 2023 2

In early 2023, I enrolled in Mr Ling’s tuition classes, coinciding with the commencement of my N level examination year. Having faced consecutive failures in previous exams, my motivation for the subject dwindled. Mr Ling revitalised my interest in POA through his dynamic and captivating lessons.

With only 8 months remaining to my N levels, a sudden realisation dawned upon me – failing POA would jeopardize my overall exam performance. Mr Ling, a perceptive tutor, adjusted his teaching pace to match each student’s understanding of the current topic. His attentiveness and genuine concern for the class was evident, even though his classes online, he surpassed the engagement levels of most onsite tuition classes.

Mr Ling’s teaching extended beyond the conventional, incorporating personal experiences to ease the learning of complex concepts. His multitude of insightful stories during longer classes ensured our sustained attention.

With his unwavering support and effective teaching strategies, i have only Mr Ling to thank for achievement of an A2 in my N levels. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr Ling for his role in my success.

Feedback from Callum’s Mom:

Dear Mr Ling,

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for your tutelage. Your dedication and unwavering support have played a crucial role in Callum’s POA. Callum was doing so badly from 2/100 marks. The current school teacher had called me to withdraw him from the class. I’m grateful to have found you through a friend’s recommendation. It was truly amazing. Your ability to breakdown challenging topic, grill the students even on public holidays. it was really unbelievable for me to witness the results. Thank you for going above and beyond to help Callum. We are blessed and fortunate to have known you. Thank you once again.

Mr Ling has been of great support in my POA journey. Before joining, i constantly failed all of my POA WAs and I felt extremely degrading. After joining, Mr Ling helped me slowly build up my foundation and as such i saw gradual improvement in school tests, from consistent F9 to A2.

He uses various teaching methods such as using real life examples and sharing personal experiences as an accountant himself. This has helped me to better understand POA in a bigger context.

Additionally, the group classes have helped me to learn from not only mine but my peers’ mistakes as well.

Apart from academics, his classes have also taught me discipline and time management as he follows a strict deadline for homework submission.

I would like to thank Mr Ling for his constant support and always being there to clarify any doubts. I would highly suggest anyone struggling with POA to join Mr Ling’s class!

Feedback from Varshani’s Mom:

Before joining Mr Ling’s tuition, i recalled the nights my daughter were crying as she did not know how to do her daily POA school homework and assignments.

However after she joined Mr Ling, i could see the confidence she had in subject. She was also always one of the top students in school (Prelim exam and WAs)

I want to thank Mr Ling for helping her in achieving an A2 in O Levels.

Mr Ling helped me tremendously in my POA bringing it from a U grade to an A1 in prelim but sadly an A2 in N Level, but either ways, with my results it is proven that Mr Ling’s teaching is effective and helps.

He would always give us real life examples and share with us his experiences which really helped me to see a step further than just POA. He also explained many topics and clarified our doubts. Mr Ling would go the extra mile to give me extra lessons to make sure that I know my work and fully understand what I am learning. I am very very grateful to be one of Mr Ling’s students, without him, I would probably fail POA. He gave me the confidence to do well in POA. I am 100% satisfied, I really think Mr Ling’s teaching is top tier and up to standard. I am absolutely certain that everyone will do well. Thank you Mr Ling!

Feedback from Velinda’s Mom:

BESTPOA really helped my daughter gain interest in POA. From hating this subject and constantly wanting to drop it to loving it and getting an A2 when it matters. My daughter has gained a lot of confidence in doing POA compared to the start. Every weekend I would see my daughter doing your practices and seeing the joy when she managed to balance her income statement is something I would never have imagined. Thank you Mr Ling.

Mr Ling’s classes are easy to understand and interesting. Although the class environment is made more difficult due to Covid restrictions he managed to keep me engaged with the lesson despite the challenges of online lessons. I was able to easily grasp the concept he taught despite learning POA for the first time and managed to score well for my O Levels. Thanks to his teachings and encouragements.

Before I Joined this tuition, I was failing POA really badly. At first, I thought that I did not study enough so I tried to study harder but still failed. I realized that even though I have tried my best to study, I still do not understand POA concepts and theories. Till I joined Mr Ling’s tuition, I finally understood the concepts and theories.

Mr Ling has creative methods to help us cope with POA much better such as the “ABC method” in Trade Receivables topic. I will definitely encourage students to join this tuition. It is definitely worth the time and energy as you will see results.

Although I consistently failed POA in Sec 3, Mr Ling managed to teach the entire syllabus to me in less than a year and explains every topic clearly. His homework was also effective in helping me remember what I learnt and also exposed me to a wide variety of questions. His notes were also extremely useful.

I would like to thank him for being such a patient and good tutor.

Feedback from Georgie’s Mom:

I’m really very thankful to Mr Ling for his dedication towards his teaching. He has his sets of rules/standard for the child to uphold and that keep them on their toes. Lots of examples were given to the child for them to understand the lessons too.

He has never failed to update the child progress when there is concern and making effort to reply my concern on my child. I am really happy that my girl has him as tutor. Thank you Mr Ling.

I was not offered POA in school but I was interested in taking it as a subject. My parents engaged Mr Ling to be my private teacher. I was able to catch up with the syllabus despite only starting lessons in November after Sec 3. I scored an A in my first Sec 4 WA1 taken in school.

Mr Ling’s teaching style is very interesting and entertaining as he uses a lot of real-life examples help me understand the topic better. He paced his lessons to match my speed of understanding and made sure I understood each unit before moving on to the next.

I would like to thank Mr Ling for guiding me through my POA Journey and I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to do well in this subject!

Feedback from Grace’s Mom:

I am very happy to see that Grace has done well in POA despite starting on the subject so late. I’m happy that Grace did not find it a chore. Thank you Mr Ling, for bringing out the best in her and nurturing her interest in the subject!

Joanne Tan – Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School - 2020 10

For less than a year, I have had the pleasure of having Mr Ling’s guidance in POA and have received a drastic improvement within a short span of time. He is a driven, strict and engaging teacher who never fail to put all his efforts into students’ learning. He challenged me to consistently produce high quality work and patiently guided me misconceptions thoroughly, ensuring that I completely understand the concepts. The lessons and homework given are enlightening, eye-opening, while also promoting critical thinking. Before being enrolled in classes with Mr Ling, no matter how many times I tried to understand the various concepts independently, I was confused and lost; however, the concepts were suddenly easier to understand and grasp through Mr Ling’s guidance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Ling quickly changed the lessons’ procedures to adhere to safe management rules. He was also prompt in updating all the parents and students about the change brought about by the situations. Surprisingly despite the constraints brought by the pandemic, lessons were still effective and engaging, Mr Ling continuously asked us various questions to test our understanding, which made all his students stay alert throughout lessons. He was efficient in returning marked homework, of which he highlighted the mistakes we made during lessons. Mr Ling’s online classes were not compromised by the pandemic, thus making lessons just as fruitful and productive as face-to-face classes.

I was given an Edusave award as well as a chance for scholarship from Polytechnics, of which I owe my thanks to Mr Ling for my outstanding POA results.

Feedback from Joanne’s Mom:

We are pleased with the teaching concepts applied by Mr Ling. The lessons are systematic and specifically targeting at the weak points of my child. The 1st lesson conducted by Mr Ling together with the parents was really helpful to give the idea of what’s the tuition concepts, style and expectation.

Not many tuition centres are able to do that. It’s important for the tutor to update the parents of the child’s progress and the challenges faced. Mr Ling did just that. Very pleased with my child’s progress from D7 to A1 under Mr Ling’s care.

Elysha Winter – CHIJ Katong Convent - 2020 11

Mr Ling’s POA class was always a highlight on Thursdays for me. I took POA outside of school, so Mr Ling was my only POA teacher. He made lessons very engaging by always having a good reason for things, always being supported by an actual “real world” example. This made lessons very easy to understand. His teaching methods and order of the syllabus that I followed made leaning POA simple, and I truly believe that it was the best way to learn the syllabus. Mr Ling is also very flexible and understanding to your needs (as long as you do your part on homework!). When switching to ZOOM lessons because of the COVID-19 pandemic , Mr Ling adapted quickly, and seamlessly switched his lessons over to ZOOM. I felt that there was no difference in the lessons, and the lessons still remained of the same quality! All of my questions could be answered by Mr Ling’s vast and deep knowledge of POA. Mr Ling also cares for the wellbeing of his students. I highly recommend Mr Ling’s classes to all students taking POA. Thank you Mr Ling!

Lingesh – St. Gabriel’s Sec School – 2020

Lingesh – St. Gabriel’s Sec School - 2020 12

For my subject combination for Sec 3, I was happy to get POA as my option. Throughout the year, I rarely passed any POA tests or exams. It’s not that I didn’t show any interest, I just could not understand the concepts. Although I tried many possible ways to improve, I still struggled. But after coming across Mr Ling’s accounting tuition webpage (bestpoa.com), everything changed for the better.

Due to my school teacher’s lack of experience, it was difficult for me to understand her way of teaching, therefore it took me some time to clarify my doubts and overcome my confusions. After attending Mr Ling’s lessons, I started to love POA.

Mr Ling’s teaching method is very unique and extremely effective. He covers the concepts and topics from the start and follows slowly according to the chapters, hence it didn’t matter how badly I did in Sec 3. This gave me the confidence and encouragement to work even harder.

Even during the COVID situation, Mr Ling still puts in lots of effort to arrange tuition lessons for his students. As a student myself, I was motivated and driven to study hard and put in the effort because I was really impressed by his sincerity, despite it being converted to online lessons.

The homework practices Mr Ling gives me really helped me to push up my grades and understand the concepts even better. Mr Ling even prepares us efficiently for exams, knowing what sort of questions will be tested in the exams, having 30 years of teaching experience.

I would like to sincerely thank Mr Ling for his endless patience, efforts and sincerity.

Feedback from Lingesh’s Dad:

I would like to thank Mr Ling for going the extra mile and having so much of hope and sincerity to teach the students. It is because of him that my son is now able to understand the concepts and do well for his tests and exams.

Since the end of last year, I had always been failing POA and did not really care much about it since I was only Sec 3 and thought that I could manage things on my own. But only during the holidays I realised how important POA was. And I was desperate for help when my cousin recommended me Mr Ling, whom was his tuition teacher when he was in secondary school. Mr Ling helped me pull my grades up by a lot and also helped me in understanding each topic with real life context. I am very grateful for his help and I would recommend him to anyone struggling in POA.

When I decided to do my “O” levels as a private student, I was forced to take up POA as they did not offer Art as a subject, which was what I took in secondary school. In fact, the private school refused to allow me to attend their POA classes as I had zero knowledge in POA at all – and then I found Mr Ling, who gladly offered to take me under his wing, even when he learned that I had less than 11 months to learn the whole syllabus right from the very beginning. But at the end of those 11 months, I managed to get an A1, which seems like a miracle, but actually it was no miracle at all, because I had the most dedicated and committed teacher, who not only make lessons fun and engaging with his experiences and vast knowledge in accounting, but most importantly, he was able to nurture my curiosity in the subject, which I think is key to being a good student and learner..

I am very grateful and thankful to have the privilege of being Mr Ling’s student.

To Mr Ling, you are the best teacher I ever had. Thank you!

Mr Ling is a very knowledgeable person with an approachable personality, which makes it easy for his students to ask him questions on both the subject and other affairs. His lessons are filled with interesting personal experiences and he always links all the topics together so that we get a clear understanding of what we are learning.

I am a slow learner who always forgets the basics when I learn something new. Fortunately, Mr Ling’s homework exercises and revisions enabled me to remember the things I learnt. Moreover, he always makes sure we are never hungry, providing us with a variety of eatables. All these factors made me look forward to attending his classes, and also motivated me to work hard and constantly follow his methods. This is truly the reason for my A1 in POA. Mr Ling made me strong solving my weaknesses and I will always seek him for advice on any matters.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Ling’s classes has always been fun and enjoyable. He has not only taught me POA but also imparted his knowledge and humor into the lessons taught. He has piqued my interest in POA and made learning not as tough as I thought it was. He broke down the topics and taught us in a way that all of us could understand and grasp. He has also made me motivated to work hard to reach my goal. Thank you so much for helping me to improve so much and be interested in POA again!

Feedback from Phoebe Seow’s Mom:

Mr Ling exceeded expectation in teaching my daughter. She is now very interested in POA after 1 year under Mr Ling. Mr Ling cleared her doubts and in a short span of 6-9 months, she improved from failing to a B3 in Preliminary Exam and an A2 in O-Level Exam. I am a happy mom! Thanks, Mr Ling.

I came into Mr Ling’s POA class with no background in POA as I took Art for my ‘O’ Levels the previous year. During my first few lessons I thought it was boring because it took a month or two to complete the foundations of accounting, but after a while POA is now my favorite subject.

Mr Ling’s way of explaining the topics and relating it to real life contexts, has not only made me learn the topics easily but I feel that it has made me start thinking and learning about business operations in a more open minded way. Overall, you should join this class because honestly it is the one of the coolest and, dare I say, the best tutor ever.

Feedback from Natasha Eliza’s Mom:

Natasha showed much interest in POA since the first day of her consultation with Mr Ling. His teaching methods definitely encouraged Natasha to excel in her studies. He has been a sowing grace as her school teachers have never been supportive in Natasha’s studies. She has excelled in her studies and taken her lessons seriously with much dedication now. Thank you Mr. Ling for helping Natasha finds her passion to excel.

When I first entered this tuition, I had no knowledge of Principles of Accounts. I thought that this subject is going to be boring as they are, keep talking about business. But in my first lesson which was on 19th January 2017, Mr Edmund Ling made it interesting for me. He is always prepared to answer questions which I usually ask him. Furthermore, he taught me discipline too. From a naughty student I become a good and hardworking student where I could have the ability to Ace my Principles of Accounts. It was a great journey for me in learning new stuff in a different method. Thank you Mr Ling!

I started joining Mr Ling’s tuition back in March 2018. I dreaded coming here because I really hated POA, always failing or getting “Just pass” during mini tests. However, after joining Mr Ling’s class for awhile, I started to see great improvements in my grades. From C6 at the start of 2018 to getting constant As till now. Instead of me asking my friends questions, they are the ones asking me now. Thank you, Mr Ling for making this 2 years an enjoyable one. All the jokes and food does make the lesson more interesting. Also, didn’t expect someone with the same birthday!!! I am fortunate to have you as my POA teacher. Yeyy!!

Feedback sharing after 2019 GCE N-Level exam:

After completing the specially designed POA tuition course by Mr Ling, I was ready for the GCE ‘N’-Levels examination and very confident. During the specially designed POA tuition course, not only I learned accounting but learned many values too. Such as being disciplined, and working hard. During the course, I’ve had an even more positive view of accounting than I did since I started.

Every lesson Mr Ling would go through my mistakes carefully, and ensured I have full understanding of what I did wrong and ensured that I would not make the same mistakes again. Exchanging laughters with him during classes were the most memorable part too.

Therefore, I would recommend this tuition class to anyone, regardless any age, as with a positive learning attitude, Mr ling can greatly help you to understand POA very well.

Feedback sharing after 2020 GCE O-Level exam:

Mr Ling is one of the best teachers I had in my life. His lessons were easy to understand and ever since I took his class I have been consistently scoring the highest in class for POA. His lessons are fruitful and easy to adapt to. His way of teaching has also taught me to be disciplined and punctual as homework was needed to be handed in fully completed with highest quality. His lessons have driven me to pursue Accountancy in Ngee Ann Poly. Lastly, being taught by Mr Ling has helped me to full of confidence for my N levels and O levels which I both scored A1s in.

Mr Ling has been a great POA teacher and I did not regret joining his POA tuition. I was actually recommended to this tuition by my sister. Mr Ling’s class is very enjoyable as he would show you real documents that he has for our better understanding unlike in school. If not for Mr Ling, I don’t think I would be able to score an A1 for POA and be the top in my class.

Feedback from Lynette’s Aunt:

Mr Ling is very systematic and structured in his approach.

Lynette started off the POA class somewhat defiant and had to take some time to adapt to this approach but she has settled down after a while.

Mr Ling takes the time to provide feedback to parents, which is useful in our guidance of the child.

Lynette has been performing well in POA in her last 2 years leading up to O’Levels.

I would like to thank Mr Ling for all his efforts, dedication and conscientiousness in supporting his students along in the subject.

Jabez Ong – Hillgrove Secondary School -2019 23

When I first attended POA lessons by Mr Ling, I had little to zero information about POA. After attending a few lessons I was able to start answering POA theories in school and have gathered some confidence in things I know. My only concern now is, if I did not put in enough effort, i may result in breaking his ‘A’ records in N-level. Mr Ling always emphasizes responsibility from homework to even as simple as drawing lines on answer sheets. He will put his 100% to help you understand POA better.

Feedback from Jabez Ong’s Mom:

Ever since Jabez attended the tuition, his result and interest grew. He has more confidence to score well and is not struggling to understand POA. He can understand the topic with interest and has since gained the concepts of accounting. He is also well prepared and is confident that he is able to excel in POA with your help. Your constant ‘pushing’ to ensure what was being taught and retained by giving the homework which he did struggle as he felt that he is only studying one subject. However, your style of helping him to cope with this subject has paid off as he is confident that he can do well for his ‘N’ level.

Jerome Chong – St. Andrew Secondary School -2019 24

I used to think POA was all about memorizing but Mr Ling proved me wrong. He gave many real-life examples and linked it to the POA topics we learnt in school. Because of this, I was able to better understand POA and apply what I have learnt with understanding rather than relying mainly on memory work.

Feedback from Jerome Chong’s Mom:

Edmund is a strict tutor. He expects his students to submit their homeworks on time. Homework is essential and reinforces the lessons taught during classes. Hence, as a parent, I agree with Edmund that timely submission of homework instils the discipline in the student. I can see Jerome benefited a lot from his class which emphasized a lot on strong foundation on the basic & fundamental. I am confident that Jerome will do well for his POA for his ‘N’ level this year!

Brandon Han – St. Gabriel’s Sec School -2018 25

Before I attended POA tuition, I had no interest in the subject and to top that up, I was constantly receiving a F9 grade. However, once I started POA tuition with Mr Ling, I found POA quite interesting. Mr Ling’s ability to explain and elaborate the concepts of POA to me was remarkable. I managed to relate his examples and understand his teaching. Moreover, not only does Mr Ling elaborate well, he constantly pushes me to complete more homework, wanting to bring the best out in me. Mr Ling was honestly one of the best tutors I had, because he makes use of every minute in class to ensure that I understand what I had just learnt.

If you are constantly failing POA, reaching to the point where are about to drop the subject, Mr Ling is your missing piece to a good grade.

Feedback from Brandon Han’s Mom:

– Lesson plans are clear and well-organized.
– Helps students to reflect and practice what has been learned at each step so they can build on what they have learned before and move on.
– A caring teacher who puts the welfare of his students first before he tutors his students.

Mr Ling is a great POA Tutor with a true gift for teaching. His thorough explanations, vivid examples and interesting practices made POA one of my favorite subjects.

Mr Ling has developed my interest in POA. I only joined his class nearing the end of Sec 3. At that time, I did not understand why this is a need to learn this subject or why is this subject so difficult to study. However, after joining his class I suddenly felt POA was very easy and could be one of my best subjects. My grades in Sec 3 were F9s for POA, but within 4 months, by the time Sec 4 CA1, I had gotten B3. This motivated me to work harder and during Prelim 1, I topped the school for POA. This could not have been possible without Mr Ling’s help.

Feedback from Harold’s Mom:

We are grateful for Mr Ling’s patience and guidance in helping my son achieve tremendous progress in his POA. He went for his first POA class in end Sec 3 feeling lost. But he aced his POA in his school Sec 4 Prelim under Mr Ling’s coaching and his own hard work. He was not interested in POA at all but this turn out to be his favourite subject now. Mr Ling has the ‘X’ factor which makes my son do and complete his POA homework. Mr Ling is the best POA teacher, nurturing, dedicated and caring. Thank you, Mr Ling!

POA. Principle of accounts. It was my weakest subject in secondary 3 no matter how hard I tried, I just could not seem to find the correct ways to study POA. At the time I thought:” A pass for POA would be a miracle for me.” and that’s when I found the answer, Mr Ling’s POA tuition. Mr Ling believes in the basics, he believes that we must build a strong foundation of knowledge in order to succeed in POA or any other subject and I totally agree with his thinking. Through his teachings, I was able to not only pass but score B3 for my Mid-year examinations. His teachings also inspired me to do well in other subjects. Therefore, I would like to thank Mr Ling for all of his teachings and hard work he put into those POA exercise questions.

Feedback from Roan’s Mom:

Dear Mr Ling,

Thank you, Mr Ling for your generosity and knowledges. Before I joined Mr Ling’s POA class, I had always gotten F9 for POA. I felt demoralised and wanted to give up POA. To help with my POA, my father brought me to Mr Ling. Initially, I thought that it was impossible to pass, regardless whether I have tuition or not as my basics were very weak. However, after a few months with Mr Ling’s guidance and commitment towards helping me, I was able to achieve more than a pass but an A1, and even emerging as first in cohort in my Prelims. This made me feel empowered and that there’s hope for my O-levels. It has made a difference and I am exceptionally gratefully towards him and having him as my teacher.

Mr Ling was able to help me understand accounting concepts fully, while making class fun and engaging at the same time. Mr Ling also went the extra mile to show me concepts and practices that are used in the working world to further broaden my horizon so that I would be able to understand the topics better and be able to link the topics together in order to see the big picture and accounting as an entire process. Mr Ling has also helped me to achieve the top position in my cohort twice, and I can confidently say that it would not have been possible without him. Thank you so much for everything Mr Ling!

Feedback from Sean’s Mom:

Mr Ling, thank you for your patience and passion in teaching Sean in the last 2 years. Mr Ling’s class took my grade from a F9 to an A1. I really couldn’t have done it without his help. Mr Ling’s classes are extremely interactive and interesting as he would use real life examples. This helped us understand accounting concepts much easier. His teaching method is understand and not memorise which worked wonders so no matter what the question was, I was able to do it. Not only but his notes are extremely comprehensive and if I had forgotten how to do a certain kind of question, a quick revision of the notes and practise questions was all I needed to do the homework he gave to us. Mr Ling’s homework though A LOT is extremely helpful as it has every single possible question which made the O level exam a breeze. Don’t lose hope as I only joined Mr Ling in June in Sec 4 and still managed to get an A1 with Mr Ling’s help. Also, there are free snacks.

I always thought that Principles of Account was a very boring subject and I would not be needing it for the future. I always scored F9 in poa exam or test because of my disinterest and I thought I will fail badly in o level. After I joined Mr Ling’s poa tuition, I realized poa was not that hard or difficult as I had presumed. Mr Ling’s explanation and notes are very detailed yet very easy to understand. Mr Ling uses real life examples to help me understand the theory and concept better. Whenever I do any poa assignment from school, I felt that the assignment is too easy as compared to Mr Ling’s homework. This gives me a little bit of confidence as now I am able to answer most of the poa questions correctly. During my prelims, I got a D7. Although I failed my poa prelim paper, I felt more confident as I understand the subject better. When I received my o-level A1 results, I was surprised as I had never gotten an A1 for poa. I am very grateful and thankful to Mr Ling for teaching and supporting me for poa. If I had never learnt or been into Mr Ling’s class, I would have failed my poa in o-level. My advice to the students taking the poa o-level is not to give up or to think that poa is a very useless subject that will not help you in the future.

Mr Ling has definitely developed my perspective and understanding of POA since I joined in April 2017. I had almost give up on POA and was very close to throwing in the towel after constantly witnessing F9s for every single examination / test I sat for. After being recommended to Mr Ling by my school classmate was where things had finally started to change and I had begun to enjoy doing POA exercises and learning concepts under Mr Ling’s watchful guidance. Mr Ling always brings in real life situations to improve our understanding and knowledge of whatever is being discussed, which also makes learning POA much more fun and less boring. Moreover, it had not always been a smooth journey. In June of this year, I was a regular party-goer and always sent out with my friends to do things such as drinking at night. This had almost resulted in my termination from the tuition, but Mr Ling never gave up on me and gave me one final chance. I somewhat have turned over a new leaf and have not been going out late at night since July 2017. This had definitely benefitted me in an extremely positive way and I am now confident of doing well in the O-Level Examination this year. Thank you Mr Ling.

I started POA lessons with Mr Ling when I was in Sec 2, moving on to Sec 3. Being excited about learning a new subject. I learnt fast and managed to achieve an A1 in my Sec 3 mid-years. However, complacency got the better of me and I started to not complete my homework and even space-out during tuition lessons. As such, my grades dropped drastically and I was averaging a C6 grade up till my Prelims. Thankfully, Mr Ling noticed this and he really went the extra mile to ensure that I could get back my former standard, even arranging extra lessons, free-of-charge. It is truly due to his hard work and dedication that I managed to achieved an A2 in my O-Levels in 2017. I know I would have done much better if I had listened more in the plant. Thank you, Mr Ling!

Initially, I wanted to drop POA because I wasn’t able to understand the basic of how things worked. All I did in class was to copy whatever the teacher wrote on the board, so I never really understood anything. I was about to give up when my mom found this tuition for me. And after going to the lesson, I was able to catch up and understand POA a lot better. The way I was taught is through understanding of the accounting system which made me more adaptable to changes in a question. The practiced questions provided also covers up all sorts of ‘traps’ that could potentially show up. So I find this very beneficial.

I started having POA tuition with Mr Ling when I was in secondary Four. Initially, I was uninterested in the subject POA itself and was only attending tuition for the sake of it. During my first lesson with Mr Ling, I enjoyed the whole lesson and the thought of the subject POA did not seem that bad at all. Mr Ling’s lessons are very clear and precise and at the same time interesting. Mr Ling includes his personal experiences in all the lessons which I find very helpful as it helps me picture and understand the whole chapter easily. Mr Ling’s lessons helped me a lot in terms of better understanding each and every chapter that is in the POA syllabus. Mr Ling always finds way to ensure that each and every chapter is easily understood. Honestly, the thought of enjoying POA was never really what I thought was possible. However, after attending Mr Ling’s classes, my whole perception of POA changed tremendously. I have never enjoyed POA this much! Overall, Mr Ling’s lessons are clear and precise. I would recommend Mr Ling’s tuition for anyone and everyone who are keen on learning POA.

At the start of the year (February), I could barely manage to get a two-digit number for my POA TESTS and exams. Zeros were common for school class tests as well. I was extremely stressed up as I believed that POA was a subject based entirely on memory like science and math. But after my mom sent me to Mr Ling’s class, I was convinced that POA is actually not as hard as I thought. (This is coming from a person who is nowhere near being academically inclined at all). Of course, I faced many obstacles in his lessons as well……being the weakest student in his class, I was pressurised and sometimes very disheartened when there was any tests or when homework was checked. But his lessons and these obstacles taught me to persevere on and push myself to my fullest potential. Mr Ling said that my grades will continue to fail till mid-year but there would be better days to come. True enough, I received an F9 for POA during mid-years but this didn’t stop me from continuing to work hard. With Mr Ling’s patient teaching, detailed explanations and encouragements, I jumped 8 grades which seemed totally unrealistic, obtained the 2nd place in my class for POA Prelims Exam,. Coincidentally, the 1st place student and the top of the cohort, my classmate, was a student of Mr Ling as well! He really does miracles. Thank you, Mr Ling!

Feedback from Gracie’s Mom:

We appreciate your hard work and patience in helping Gracie to gain understanding in POA concepts. We saw a great difference between learning based on simply memorising and learning with understanding. Your teachings have instilled in her greater confidence and interests in the subject, as she begins to see that she can do it.
Putting her in a class of brighter students, though stressful, had helped her see her weakness and the need to work hard instead of being complacent. Thank you, Mr Ling!

Mr Ling’s Remark:

Gracie, an artistic and music inclined student, joined my class in March 2017. The first impression I had on her were very quite, low confidence in POA but willing to take up the challenge. She was the weakest in the group class but that did not defeat her. She was very determined to do well in POA. Her POA learning path was tough but the friendly competitive environment has developed a positive impact on her. She managed to secure a 2nd position in her school class during 2017 prelim exam. Her confidence cheered her and her group up. I am very proud of her.

Before joining in the midyear of Sec 3, I was barely passing POA. POA is a subject where one needs to know the previous topic well before moving on to the next. During lessons, I most of the time couldn’t even understand what the teacher was rambling about. Thus, my problems accumulated and I was set far back, along with many of my classmates. After joining this tuition, I was provided with a lot more in depth view on the world of accounting and a lot of realistic examples. I recommend this tuition to any student- be it an F9 or even an A1 student- as lesson are made a lot more interesting than ones in school, as well as being exposed to a lot of new formats and exercises.

The tutor is very knowledgeable in accounting as he had practical experiences in the real world and makes you think out of the box. He also makes sure students understand the concept fully.

I had trouble understanding concepts in different topics and had difficulties completing my homework. Therefore, I made a decision to attend Mr ling’s tuition and seek for help and guidance.

Mr ling’s lessons are definitely beneficial. He ensures that all his students have zero doubts on any part of the work before moving on to other areas. Also, he is patient and understanding, willing to rush from time to time just to ensure his students have their lessons despite his tight schedule. Mr ling’s tuition is also fun and interesting, he provided us with actual facts he encountered from past experience as an auditor, a student etc. These experiences definitely triggered each and every one of us to learn more about POA and boost our passion for this subject. Usually, I will be reluctant to go to a typical tuition as I find it boring.

Mr Ling’s Remark: “Siwen is a China student pursuing O-Level exams in private school. She has a very weak foundation when she first joined me. What surprised me was her perseverance and meticulous attitude in learning POA despite the language barrier. She never failed to hand in her homework and always asked for more questions to practice. Her hard work paid off and A1 is the only grade she deserves to earn. She developed interest in accounting during the course with me and desires to become an Auditor in the future. Ling’s POA has definitely heightened my understanding of accounting and in fact elevated my interest in it. I used to view POA as a subject that was tedious and I never found joy in doing it, however after joining Ling’s POA, I start to see the joy of not just scoring well in POA but also understanding it.

Mr Ling is a teacher who sees beyond how well we score but aims to help us nurture and truly comprehend the reason why accounting is important in the real world. His lessons are always a joy as he loves to tell stories to explain certain concepts, these stories really help me to grasp the idea and allow me to easily understand certain concepts. My POA grades improves drastically ever since I joined Ling’s POA.

I was actually pretty good at POA when I first started out in Sec3 scoring almost all As for my tests, the drastic turn came in about in Sec4 when my POA teacher retired and was replaced with another. My grades started to deteriorate and I was scoring C5/C6, my friend introduced me to Ling’s POA in Sec 5 and from then on, I have been scoring no short As for my tests. I really want to thank you for all the guidance, patience and effort u have put in to teaching me POA. Throughout this short period of time my interest and understanding for POA have always been on a constant boost. From someone who really thought POA was a waste of time and just an overall alien subject to now being someone who really have a passion for accounting, I just really cannot thank you enough!

Parents’ letter: Thank you Edmund to unveil Jun Han’s potential in his POA study. For Sec 3 to Sec 4 normal exam, Jun Han had dropped POA exam due to no interest. I am glad I have put him in your class. I can see that he is inspired by the teaching and constantly show perseverance and determination towards POA. He even set higher aim for POA O level exam. This has also changed his perception in other weaker subjects which he used to think he cannot make it. The school prelim exam results show that he has improved a lot, and with that, once again, thank you Edmund.

Mr Ling’s Remark: “Jun Han is a very diligent boy but had given up POA. He even avoided 2015 N-Level POA paper. With barely 6 months left, it was a great challenge to build him up for O- Level exam. My top priority was to build his confidence and interest in POA. Jun Han worked very closely with me. His attitude towards learning POA and other subjects turned positive in the process and further influenced his other 2 classmates to do better in POA. Jun Han has proven to himself that meticulousness and perseverance towards learning can overcome study problems. He scored B3 in the 2016 O-Level exam but to me, he is a Distinction boy. I wish him a smooth learning path in his further studies.”

I joined Mr Ling’s POA tuition class in May. Mr Ling’s place was easy to find as he had directed me with very comprehensive maps before the class started. As I was in Poly, Mr Ling tried to balance up my school and tuition work which helped me a lot on my time management and relieved my stress. I had NO idea at all about Principles of Accounts when I first saw Mr Ling. But after these few months of learning from Mr Ling, I am able to answer almost any questions that threw at me. Mr Ling is very knowledgeable and he always keeps the lessons interesting. He is very caring and always has light snacks for the students. I am very confident to get Distinction in the POA papers with Mr Ling’s teaching.

Mr. Ling’s Remark: “It was a real coincidence for Nicholas to join my POA tuition class. Nicholas was a Polytechnic Engineering first year student when he joined my class in May 2015. He has always wanted to pursue Finance Course so he decided to re-sit for O-Level exam and chosen POA as a subject which he had never studied before. He bought a reference book online and was referred by the seller, who happened to be the mother of one of my former students.”

I feel so lucky to be one of Mr Ling’s students. His class is full of fun. His explanation is very clear, vivid and easily understood. He also cares about us by preparing some food if needed. I like to do any POA homework given by Mr Ling, which is very helpful.

After some months with Mr Ling, I can see my improvements obviously. Thank you very much, Mr Ling!

Mr Ling’s Remark: “Zen is a very serious student towards learning. He is a Thai national, tall, friendly and cheerful. He was motivated to do well after he saw his classmate, who was my student, had done very well in the Sec 3 Final Year Exam. He joined with a E8 but he was very hardworking and determined to excel in his academic work.”

I’m very glad to sign up Mr Ling’s POA class. Mr Ling is a very experienced teacher and very knowledgeable in accounting. He gives us a lot of real life examples to help us to understand accounting concepts easily. He always shares with me useful and valuable ‘tips’ to score in the papers which not many other teachers are able to provide. I feel so grateful to him.

Mr Ling’s Remark: “Megan is a very diligent student. She will clarify with me every doubt that she encountered in her POA lessons from school. What impressed me most is that she would jot down my explanations and examples given to her in her own notebook. From her serious attitude towards learning, you know she will excel.”

In 2013, the first quarter of the year, I was getting D7 and at most C6. But, after I went for Ling’s POA, I improved to an A1 in my Sec 3 year end exam. Also, due to his step-by-step interactive teaching, I was able to understand everything and maintain an A1 grade in all my school tests. Mr. Ling is a very understanding and caring teacher.

After joining Mr. Ling’s POA Tuition class, I have definitely developed a clear interest in accounting and would like to further pursue it when I enter Poly. This is all thanks to Mr. Ling’s approach towards teaching POA which is far different from the way my teachers teach it in school.

Mr. Ling allows us to learn through proper process on how to derive certain accounting methods/concepts instead of simply based on the textbook teaching, thus enable me to understand the topics very in depth. Once the basic is grasped and understood, it will definitely makes doing worksheets & practices far easier and understandable. With Mr. Ling’s help, I always scored A standard in my schools exams and topical tests which makes me among the top students. Thanks Mr. Ling! :}!

Mr Ling is a very caring and responsible teacher. He is able to make lessons fun and at the same time teach us what is needed for us to know. Thanks Mr. Ling for letting me get an A1 in POA.

I’m quite impressed by my O level (POA) result. I was failing really badly in my POA. I was quite worried that I might not be able to make it during the O levels despite joining the tuition since the start of my Sec 4, but eventually I made it during the O levels. The tuition made me have a better understanding in POA starting from the basic and made me likes the subject as well, even though I used to hate the subject a lot. And I really understand the basic foundations taught by my tutor Mr Ling, I realized that I don’t really have to study and memorize the theories so hard. I’m really grateful towards the tuition.

I did not take Principles of Accounts in my school since the subject combination did not allow me to do so. That’s why I joined Mr. Ling’s class to learn POA. I guess it turns out to be a blessing in disguise by joining his class, I learnt knowledge beyond textbooks as well as wisdom in lives. By merely attending weekly lessons, his efficient teaching allows me to be just as competent as my classmates. He is a teacher that I really look up to for his responsible attitude and the pride he holds in things he believes in. Certainly he has ignited my passion for accounts and has inspired me to be a better person in life. I hope I can make him pound with my results :)

Mr. Ling has been a very understanding teacher. He understands our heavy school workload and will assist us to complete our tuition homework. He’ll try his best to give us sufficient time to finish them and also ensure that only specially selected questions are given.

Mr.Ling uses words to motivate his students to make them want to do better. Even though I only joined the class this year and had a very weak foundation in POA, I’m glad to say that through him, my POA has improved tremendously. Before I came for this tuition, my Principles of Accounts was not up to my class standard, I was the only few students who always got either a C6 or even at times, D7 and E8 for all tests. However, after I came for this tuition, I started to improve gradually. To my surprise, during Prelim exams, I got an A1 for POA and ranked FIRST in my class. When i first joined LING’S POA tuition, I had ZERO knowledge of POA. At that time, it was probably close to the end of secondary 3. It was a last minute decision from my dad to take up POA as a private candidate. At that point of time, most of the schools would have probably completed 75% of the textbook in addition to many practices and tests they must have done. I was on the verge of panicking. Literally, I have less than a year to study for everything, practice and also sit through exams. It was not easy as POA is not the only subject I am taking; I had to juggle with 6 other subjects.

However, with the help of Mr Edmund and his constant guidance, he built up my foundation and constantly gives me extra time for my tuition so as to guide me and also give me time to digest all the things he taught. On top of that, he would also crack jokes to make the tuition livelier.

Mr Edmund is really a good teacher, he is able to spot important topics to practice on as well as clear uncertainties, if any. Mr Edmund’s teaching may be different from that of a school. True enough, he teaches base on UNDERSTANDING and NOT FORCED MEMORIZING. This is very important as it helps me understand POA and when thrown with a different yet difficult question, my mind is not rigid I am able to solve it through this understanding and with a strong foundation.

Only in probably April of 2012, my school approved me of being a private candidate. Before the approval, I was taking lessons with Mr Edmund, building my POA basic foundation as well as doing practices constantly. When i joined my school’s POA class, my classmates looked down on me as I was still a few topics slower than them. However, for my school’s prelim, I got a pleasantly surprising grade which placed me as one of the top students in their class. By this time , I was already ahead of them and have done more practices than they have and also, sat through more difficult tests than them and all these was from Mr Edmund. This is not the end, when I received my O-Level results, I scored DISTINCTION for my POA and is probably also the top few in my school.

When my fellow classmates and church friends asked about my POA results, most of them fared a C6 despite the original 2 years of education in school. For me, I based solely and mostly on Mr Edmund’s guidance which grabbed me a distinction. In less than a year, I completed what other students did in 2 years yet obtaining a way better result than them. On top of this, I love POA which is completely converse from other friends of mine. They found POA a bore while I find POA amusing and fun. This is all the fruits of a good teacher : ) thank you Mr Edmund for always guiding me patiently and reminding me to be cautious of my repeated errors.

When I was in secondary 3, I’m so used to failing my poa tests and I could hardly pass a test. About a few months before my sec 3 year end exam, I was introduced to Mr Ling by one of my friends, Joel, who was also Mr Ling’s student.

The teaching method that he used was superb. I was very satisfied with the way he taught because it was really easy to understand.

My grades also jumped from a fail to B3 within few months and then during secondary 4, my results for poa maintained at A1. I strongly believe that students who are keen in practicing the questions given by Mr Ling will certainly score A1 under Mr Ling’s coaching.

Hi Edmund, we really appreciate your kindness in taking in Eugene as student. I’ve approached a few tutors before contacting you, but none of them would want to teach him because he has no POA background and the examination was so close. Eugene needed this Humanity subject, we did not pin too much hope and in fact, we expected him to fail the paper. But as a parent, we still hope that miracle would happen.
